Generally, the term “firstfruits” in English means “first harvest,” or more specifically, the offering given up from the first harvest. It’s a biblical term, I believe — at least it’s found in the Bible:
“And the feast of harvest, the firstfruits of thy labours, which thou hast sown in the field: and the feast of ingathering, which is in the end of the year, when thou hast gathered in thy labours out of the field.” (Exodus 23.16)

Z kulinarnego punktu widzenia cukinia jest warzywem ale z botanicznego jest owocem, bo powstaje z kwiatu. Sama musialam sie przez chwile zastanowic. Poczatkowo potraktowalam ten tytul jako przenosnie. Podobie sprawa ma sie z pomidorem :)
